BA (Hons) Health and Social Care

BA (Hons) Health and Social Care

Health and Social Care is all about compassion, support and understanding both the individual needs and the broader socio-cultural context. Here at BGU we practice what we teach.  You will experience:

Small class sizes and personalised learning
Teaching staff at BGU are committed to providing a stimulating learning environment, which will challenge and enhance your skills. You will always be a person, and never a number. The learning environment is on a human scale; you won’t be lost in the crowd, and you will have access to lecturers and tutors to support your learning needs.

Academic staff
Our teaching staff are experienced social work and social care professionals, with many years’ experience in both practice and in higher education. We are committed to sharing our experiences of practice with you, and drawing upon real-life issues, dilemmas and creative problem solving.

Research-informed teaching
Our academic staff are not only teachers, but also active researchers in their fields of expertise, with a current collection of international articles, book chapters and conference presentations.  Additionally, the curriculum is grounded in research and practice-based evidence (both quantitative and qualitative evidence across many disciplines.

Grounded in real life experiences
As well as theories and research, here at BGU we like to keep it real. The course has been developed in consultation with Lincolnshire Health & Social Care services, to ensure relevance to the community and employers expectations. Guest speakers, including practitioners and service-users, will share their experiences with you, and you will also undertake a work-experience placement.
