BA (Hons) International Relations

From turmoil in the Middle East to the European refugee crisis, our world is always changing. This degree course will give you the knowledge and skills required to address global challenges of the 21^st Century.

Studying with the Department of Politics and International Relations, which received a 90% overall satisfaction rate (National Student Survey 2016), you will gain a deep insight into the dynamics that shape the contemporary world. You will study the theory of:

• International relations
• Global governance
• International political economy
• Foreign policy
• Diplomacy

This is complemented by specialist modules in Middle Eastern, African, Chinese and East Asian politics. There are also optional modules in topics including:

• Security
• Development
• Human rights
• Conflict
• Genocide

You will have the option of putting your academic knowledge into practice through a work placement in the international relations sector. This will equip you with the practical experience required for a career in areas including, but not limited to:

• Government
• International institutions
• Policy think tanks
• Development agencies
• NGOs

Recently, students have carried out work placements with Members of Parliament, the civil service and a wide variety of international and domestic campaign groups.
