BA (Hons) Fine Art Extension Degree

BA (Hons) Fine Art Extension Degree

This course is four years in length, and begins with a Year 0 Extension.

Goldsmiths specialises in making, curating and writing about contemporary art in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. We consistently score high in university rankings, including the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017) where we are 15th in the world for Art.

Our alumni are some of the most recognised names in the field today, including more than 30 Turner Prize nominees since 1990.

The extension is designed for students outside the European Union, to help you develop artistic ideas and work independently. Once you have finished the Year 0, you can progress to Year 1 of the BA (Hons) Fine Art or BA (Hons) Fine Art and History of Art degree courses.

During the Year 0 Extension, you will learn technical and conceptual skills to establish the basics of your critical judgement and future work. You will also be taught in small groups, meaning there is a lot of one-to-one support. English language support is also available.

During the Year 0 you will study two mandatory modules:

  • Studio Practice
  • Critical Studies

You will also take ONE of the following modules:

  • English Language Support
  • The Portfolio for Art Writing
