The single honours psychology degree will allow you to study an exciting programme of psychological study delivered in a supportive environment. The degree has a strong focus on the application of psychological knowledge to understanding and improving individual, organisational, and societal health.

The single honours programme will provide you with comprehensive knowledge and skills in understanding how and why people behave in the ways they do and the ability to apply that knowledge in a variety of individual and group settings.

You will explore the link between psychological theory, research and practice, with a focus on producing a scientific understanding of the links between the mind, brain, behaviour and experience, and how we can try to influence these processes to improve individual, organisational, and societal health and wellbeing.

The programme has a strong emphasis on developing psychological research skills and an understanding of research ethics, culminating in an independent final year research project.

The programme will explore issues such as:

  • How do humans communicate in society and how is this changing in the face of technology and social media?
  • How does the human brain influence the ways that we think, feel and behave?
  • How can we apply our knowledge of the ways in which people think, feel and behave in order to tackle problems in society?
