WATCH THIS: Jim Carrey's Honorary Arts Degree Acceptance Speech is Hilarious

29th May 2014 Posted by: Student World Online

JIM CARREY, star of laugh-a-minute films such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Liar Liar, was awarded an honorary arts degree from Maharishi University of Management this week and as expected, his acceptance speech was hilarious.

Carrey, who was recognised for significant lifetime achievements as a world-renowned actor, comedian and philathropist, gave a talk that was as gut-wrenchingly funny as it was inspiring. While starting with some jokes that appealed to the humours of local students, perhaps the most memorable part of Carrey's speech recalled words from his father:

"I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which, was that you can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."

Carrey spoke at a ceremony for 285 graduating students for 54 countries. Students at the spiritually-minded Maharishi University of Management are offered a unique chance to learn through "conscious based learning" where meditiation is encouraged. If only all graduation ceremonies have a guest speaker as great as this!
